Site of Apni Mandi shifted

CHANDIGARH, April 20: In view of the traffic and hygienic problems faced by residents of the area, the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has decided to shift the Apni Mandi site from the present one in Sector 27-D to Sector 27-C.

According to the area councillor and former Deputy Mayor of the Corporation, Mohinder Singh, the Apni Mandi would now be held every Sunday, instead of every Wednesday held till now, on the park between the Radha Swami Bhawan and Government High School in Sector 27-C. The next Apni Mandi in the sector would be held on April 25.

Residents of the area had earlier complained that with the holding of the Apni Mandi in Sector 27-D, a number of traffic and hygiene- related problems had cropped up in the area, which was next to the main road dividing Sectors 27 and 30.
