MUMBAI, Dec 5: The Sena-BJP government today asked Sindhudurg Collector Arun Kumar Tiwari to proceed on leave following complaints of his “indecent” behaviour with his male subordinates. “Following serious complaints against him, the government has asked him to proceed on leave.
He he has been directed to hand over the charge to Additional Collector B R Jadhav with immediate effect,” a senior official told The Indian Express.
Tiwari, a computer engineer by profession, joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1990. He was posted as Sindhudurg Collector on November 3, 1997. Earlier, he held post as Deputy Director of Land Records, Pune.
Though Tiwari was not available for comment, he is understood to have informed the State Government that a section of the employees of the Revenue Department have launched a character assassination campaign against him since he opposed the proposed shopping complex at Sindhudurg.
According to a Revenue Department official, the State Government had received a specific complaint against Tiwari. “The decision to ask Tiwari to proceed on leave was taken by Chief Minister Manohar Joshi after the details of the complaint were brought to his notice,” the official said.Tiwari is the third IAS official to land in a controversy.
