India’s triple silver medallist Krishnan Madasamy has been disqualified from the weightlifting competition at the Commonwealth Games after failing a drug test, officials said on Saturday. The weightlifter tested positive for a metabolite of the banned steroid nandrolone, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) said in a statement.

He is the first competitor to be disqualified from the Games for a drug offence.
