JALANDHAR, DECEMBER 22: The recently-released film Khoobsoorat, starring Sunjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar, has aroused the ire of Sikh bodies, including Gurcharan Singh Tohra’s AISAD party, for its alleged offensive portrayal of the Sikh community.
According to a letter written by the Social and Panthic Watchdog Group to the SGPC, a song sequence in the movie has the words Thobde pe baara kyon baje hain bol with the visuals of patka-clad Sikh children.
Surjit Singh Cheema, who was the AISAD candidate against Jagir Kaur, said on behalf of his party: "This sequence obviously offends the whole community. Till such time some legal action is initiated by the SGPC, I would request cinema owners and TV channels not to screen the offensive portions. I also feel that the Censor Board should ensure that such sequences are not cleared for viewing."
The Social and Panthic Watchdog Group, which was behind the strong opposition to the recent proposal to amend the SGPC Act, in a letter to the SGPChas asked the body to initiate action.
