A Once-dreaded terrorist from Punjab, involved in the massacre of 14 members of the family of a security personnel at Bakhatgarh in Sangrur district of Punjab in 1992, was nabbed by the Akola police in a murder case at Durg in Chhattisgarh.Balwinder Singh, who operated as a member of the Khalistan Commando Force in Punjab under the name Najamsingh Khajurasingh, was declared wanted by the Akola police for the murder of a truck driver, Manjindersingh Satnamsingh Khera, at Pailpada on April 12.Acting on a tip-off, the police captured Balwinder along with two accomplices, Surendrasingh Sadhusingh Jat and Kalwindersingh Channasingh Jat, from a lodge in Durg. The culprits had a carbine with them when the police team, comprising S N Mali, Subhash Patil, Vijay Yadav, Sadanand Marge and Jayant Sontakke, arrested them. They later also confessed having killed at least three more people along National Highway 6 near Akola. The victims included a woman and her 9-month old son and a truck cleaner from Raipur.Balwinder is also wanted by Punjab police in two other murder cases.Akola Superintendent of Police Sukhvinder Singh said that Intelligence Bureau and Punjab police teams are expected to reach Akola soon to take him to custody.
