
Lucky Malviya edge past Sahara
Malviya Club entered the semi-final of the Rafiq Ahmed Memorial tournament. The semi-finalist was decided through toss after dust-storm followed by rain stopped the match between Malviya Club and Sahara Airlines.
Earlier, batting first, Sahara Airlines made 163 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 40 overs. Brijesh Roy (66) and Deepak (64) were the highest scorers of the day as Malviya Club were in a bad shape after losing six crucial wickets at the score of 45 in 11.1 overs. But luck favoured them and rain came as a saviour and washed out the match. The fate of the match was decided through toss. Malviya Club now meet the winners of Madras Club and KN Colts.

Rahul Ghatak claimed three crucial wickets while Shikher Dhawan scored unbeaten 54 to enable Sonnet Club beat Shanti Sports Academy in the Tara Devi Khullar Memorial cricket tournament for junior boys.

A century by Himanshu Mehta and 63 runs by Harish Negi paved way for Alpine Club’s victory over Surpal Cycles Academy in the BDM Moonways under-19 cricket tournament. Another highlight of the Alpine’s 175-run win was the rich wicket haul by Gagan Sharma who claimed five wickets giving 46 runs.

Air Force beat Darling Club by seven wickets in the AI division match of teh DDCA League. The other matches between KN Colts and Delhi Audit, Inborn and United and Rani Bagh and Golden Hawks were washed out.

Sixteen top teams of Delhi will be participating in the All-India Challenger’s trophy hot weather cricket tournament, organised by Yuva Khel Club, Palwal, from May 30 at Govt Sr Sec School, Palwal.
