SPG All-India ranking tennis for ladies
The Shivaji Park Gymkhana SPG will be holding a Rs 1,00,000 All-India ranking prize-money Mumbai Hardcourt Tennis tournament for Ladies at the gymkhana courts from May 11.
While the singles winners will emerge richer by Rs 15,000 and twenty all-India ranking points, the runner-up receives Rs 15,000 and 15 ranking points.
The qualifying rounds commence from May 9, informs a SPG release.The entries will be accepted at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association office at Cooperage up to May 4.
NSCB award for Naseoh
The National Society for Equal Opportunities for the Handicapped Naseoh, Mumbai has been conferred the National Sports Club of the Blind NSCB award for the year 1997-98.
Hemangi Hemant Dongaonkar, a physical teacher at the Blind Boys Institute, Nagpur has been adjudged as the outstanding coach. She is also the vice-president of the Indian Blind Sports Association, Delhi Garima Chauhan, an athlete at the National Insitute forthe Visually handicapped NVIH, Dehra Dun, Uttar Pradesh was adjudged the best sportswoman.
The awards will be presented on the club8217;s seventh annual day which falls on April 4. Former Test cricketer Nari Contractor will be the chief guest during the function which will be held at the University Clubhouse auditorium, 4th floor, B8217; road, Churchgate.
Hit the Board8217; contest for players
The third one-day international match of the Pepsi triangular series between India and Zimbabwe to be played at Baroda on April 5 will feature a Winstone Jeans8217; hit the board8217; contest for the players.
Players of either team who hit the advertisement board of Winstone Jeans placed around the boundary line will get a gift hamper, says a release.
Chess coaching camp
The Mulund Gymkhana will be conducting a two-month chess coaching camp from April 15.
International Masters Shekhar Sahu and Sharad Tilak would be visiting faculties during the camp which would be for beginners and advanced players.

Payyade Memorial football
The final match of the 3rd Ramnath Payyade Memorial Football Tournament will held on April 4 at the Karnatak ground.
Bombay Fort Sports Club and Karnatak Sports Club would be the teams battling for the title, says a release.
Ex-students8217; one-day tournament
The Bombay Kannada Night School Ex-students Sports Association will be holding a one-day cricket tournament for the ex-students of the school on April 5.
The tournament will be staged at the Oval Maidan from 7.00 p.m. onwards, says a release.
Matunga Gym office-bearers
JJ Patel was elected the president of the Matunga Gymkhana for the year 1997-99 during the gymkhana8217;s elections recently. The other office-bearers are as follows:

The Fitness-world Skating School, Worli will hold its sixth annual summer-vacation from April 16.
