Sanjeev to lead softball team
Sanjeev Thapliyal of Sarvodaya School, Ring Road, will lead Delhi Schools in the National School Games softball competition at Indore from January 9 to 14.

Eight of the selected are from Sarvodaya School and Delhi are winners of the championship for the last two years.

Boys: Sanjeev Thapliyal (captain), Anoop Singh, Sunil, Sachin Thakur, Vikas Bharti, Harpreet Singh, Kunal, Nitin Thakur, Bharat Dhupar, Vipul Datta, Ashish Negi, Sachin, Shakti Singh, Nitin Chillani, Vineet Pal, Anoop (coach), Pijay Pal Singh (manager).

Amity champs
Amity International School (Saket) defeated Laxman Public School by 19 runs to win the zone-23 tournament at Laxman Public School.

Brief scores: Amity International: 142 in 30 overs (Amit Sarin 40, Ajit Ranjan 30, Arun Tyagi 30, Arun 2 for 28).

LPS: 123 (Rajesh 31, Sidharth Singh 3 for 15, Ajit Ranjan 3 for 21, Subodh Gulati 2 for 12).

National climbing
Nearly 150 top men and women climbers from all parts of the country will participate in the third National Climbing Competition to be held at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), Bento Juarez Road, opposite Anand Niketan on Friday and Saturday.

DPS beat DAV
Delhi Public School, Mathura Road scored a 4-2 win over D A V, Brijvihar in the tie-breaker in the fourth Polio Unmoolan Inter-School Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium.

Badshah, Punit and Sufian scored for the winners while Ashish found the reducer for the losers. The teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation period.

In another match, Anglo Arabic School defeated D A V, Chitra Gupta Road 5-0 in a purely one-sided match. In the final match of the day, Upras Public School beat Rouse Avenue 3-1. Clement, Ravi and Christopher scored for the winners while Srikant scored the lone goal for Rouse Avenue.

Bowling alley
A new bowling alley with all modern facilities has come up in the Capital. The four-lane bowling centre at Leo’s World located next to Delhi University was inaugurated here on Tuesday. Other bowling centres that have opened in the Capital or adjoining areas are Leisure Bowl (Vasant Kunj), First Bowl (Gurgaon), Qutub Bowl (Qutub Hotel) and Little Paradise (Mathura Road).

Hockey Test
The final Test between India and Germany will be played at the National Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m. The entry for the match, which will be telecast live by Doordarshan on DD 1, is free.
