Alarmed by the damage to his government due to a public spat between senior police officials, CM Sushilkumar Shinde has decided to personally review the Telgi case. ‘‘I have convened a meeting on Tuesday to review the progress into the multi-crore fake stamp scandal,’’ Shinde said.

The meeting will be attended by Dy CM Bhujbal, Chief Secretary Ajit Nimbalkar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) U.K. Mukhopadhyaya and DGP S.C. Malhotra.

A senior bureaucrat said Shinde was disturbed over the statements made by Police Commissioner R.S. Sharma, Additional Commissioner Maheshgauri and SRPG DIG M.S. Mushriff. ‘‘It was wrong for these officials to redress their grievances through the media. Now the focus is on the Jaiswal report and the Telgi case has taken a back seat,’’ the bureaucrat said. Shinde will also examine the option of handing over the case to the CBI.
