NEW DELHI, May 12: Modern Public School (Shalimar Bagh) in the women's section and Nehru Stadium in the men's section won the titles in the Delhi State judo championship that concluded here early this week.In the taek-wondo championship, VAD Club (women), PTS Club (junior boys) and Czar Club (men) took the honours in their respective sections.The two-day meet, held in the memory of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, had attracted several competitors both in judo and taekwondo.Modern Public School women judokas had a tought fight against their more pronounced Nehru Stadium opponents but the former overcame the hurdles well enough to push the latter behind in the honours list. Janak Club clinched bronze and finished third.In the junior boys section, however, Nehru Stadium boys domination was complete as they outwitted their opponents from Indira Gandhi Stadium to claim the gold. With a little more effort from IG Stadiun judokas, they could have logged more points to give a real good fight to Nehru Stadium players. The third place was claimed by Tyagraj Stadium.In the men's section, Nehru Stadium stamped their authority. IG finished second and Thyagraj Stadium behind them in third. Most of Delhi's private clubs participated in the taekwondo events in all the sections and the women especially proved they were potential remarkably.
