Shahbaz Sharif, the brother of deposed Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif, who was deported to Jeddah minutes after he returned from a three year exile, has filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking a directive to the Pakistan government to permit his return.

Terming his deportation illegal, Shahbaz who heads the the PML-N sought a directive from the court to the top officials of Lahore International Airport as well as immigration and security officials to produce him before the anti-terrorism court where a case was registered against him.

The petition also said his deportation was a violation of the apex court’s ruling few weeks ago which said that exile was violation of fundamental right and as a Pakistani he has the right to return and face cases registered against him.

He also complained to the Supreme Court about the alleged refusal of the Lahore HC to entertain his earlier plea to seek restraining order against his deportation and stated that the HC refused to accept his petition despite the fact that authorities had declared that he would be deported on his return.
