Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council Nitin Gadkari today claimed he had evidence to prove that two top ministers in the Democratic Front (DF) government received Rs 20 crore and Rs 10 crore from fake stamp paper racket kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi and producer Bharat Shah respectively. ‘‘Telgi and Shah should be made to undergo a polygraph test and tape-recorded conversations, and a diary in this regard should be made public. The probe should be handed over to CBI,’’ Gadkari said. ‘‘I have met the Governor in private and apprised him of the matter,’’ he added. TDP MLA’s arrest based on strong proof: Bhujbal MUMBAI: Justifying the arrest of ex-Andhra Pradesh minister and TDP legislator Krishna Yadav by Maharashtra police in the stamp paper scam, Deputy CM Chhagan Bhujbal said on Sunday that any arrest in the case was made only on the basis of strong proof against those involved. Bhujbal said that he was getting more information from the special investigation team on Yadav’s involvement in the scam. (PTI) The Opposition leader said Shah had been asked to pay Rs 20 crore by the minister. He reportedly paid only half the amount. Gadkari added that a diary in the Telgi case also mentions the minister’s name. He went on to claim that another minister took Rs 10 lakh to issue a licence to Telgi for selling counterfeit stamp papers. Asked as to why he had not come forward to help the prosecution in the case, Gadkari said, ‘‘I am ready. I will name the ministers at the appropriate time. Let them first undergo the lie-detector test.’’ On the issue of medical and engineering admissions, Gadkari said due to wrong decisions of the state government, about 290 out of 844 deserving students will have to make way for rich candidates due to increased management seat quota. About Sunday’s low key Congress meeting of Vidarbha parliamentarians and legislators, Gadkari said the Congress was never serious about the statehood issue. ‘‘We will support any legislation on statehood,’’ he said.
