NEW DELHI, November 15: A career-best bowling effort (16-7-34-6) by left-arm spinner Arun Sharma gave a new twist to the North Zone Ranji Trophy league match between Services and Himachal Pradesh at Harbaksh Stadium here today.
After conceding a lead of 41 on first innings, Services hit back by dismissing Himachal for 92 in their second innings. At the end of the penultimate day, the hosts, chasing a victory target of 134, were 79 for four.
As many as 17 wickets fell on the eventful day as fortunes of the teams fluctuated. It was the fourth time in 20 matches that Arun Sharma had claimed five or more wickets in an innings. His previous best, also against Himachal, was 5 for 28 at Mandi in 1995.
Himachal were dismissed for 92 in 43.4 overs with Arun Verma top-scoring with an unbeaten 25. Sanjay Sirsat claimed three for 17.
Services also ran into trouble in their second innings with left-arm medium pacer Parveen Sharma claiming three for 41.
