The runaway rise in Sensex continued on Friday. With bulls retaining their grip, the benchmark index ended the day with gain of 23.62 points or 0.30 per cent at 7,899.77 points. This is also a new lifetime high for the Sensex on a closing basis.Earlier, the Sensex hit a new all time high of 7,928.07 points and a low of 7,836.34 points in intra-day trades. The Sensex witnessed close to 100 point swing in intra-day trades. The NSE Nifty closed the day at 2,415.80 points, a gain of 10.05 points.Among Sensex stocks, 23 stocks were positive while seven were negative. MUL was the biggest gainer in the Sensex, advancing 5.1 per cent to Rs 510. Earlier the counter hit a new 52-week high of Rs 522.80. The government is considering offloading an 8 per cent stake in the company to state-run financial institutions including PSU banks.Infosys was the biggest loser in the Sensex, down 1.72 per cent to Rs 2,385. HDFC followed with a loss of 1.62 per cent to Rs 903.
