Senior Citizens are treasures of society: Anna Hazare

Hazare emphasised the need for Right to Information Act being utilised for the benefit and Welfare of Senior Citizens.

Those present on the occasion included senior stage and film artiste Ashalata and Dr Ramachandra Dekhane, a well-known scholar of a folk and saint literature.

The special programme for senior citizens was organised by Athahsri Foundation which was attended by senior citizens of the city and surrounding areas to packed capacity at the Yahswantrao Chavan Auditorium. The programme was inaugurated by Shashank Paranjape, managing director, Paranjape Schemes.

On the occasion, Dekhane performed his special show ‘Bahurupi Bharud’ which received tremendous applause from the audience. Actress Ashalata was interviewed by Dr Sangeeta Bapat. Ashalata recalled her theatrical and film career. Senior citizens attending the function were delighted by the performance.

At the concluding ceremony, 20 volunteers and a few senior citizens were felicitated by Hazare and the renowned Gandhian was given a standing ovation by the senior citizens for his excellent service to the society.

The directors of Athashri Foundation Dr Sharachhandra Gokhale, S R Rairikar and Dr Vishvas Mehendele were present on the occasion. Neela Deshpande compered the programme.
