MUMBAI, December 3: After having targetted Cinemax and New Empire in Mumbai on Wednesday, the saffron thought police were in their element in Thane today, where Fire was to be released at the Aradhana theatre in Thane city and some other theatres in Dombivli and Ulhasnagar.According to the staff at Aradhana theatre, they got a terse call from the Shiv Sena prohibiting them from screening the film. ``When a call comes from Tembhi Naka, you simply obey,'' said one of the staff members, who felt saying anything more would get all of them into trouble. When this reporter spoke to Thane-based Sena leader Anand Dighe, on whose diktat this has been done, he admitted the Sena had banned screening of the film. ``Fire shows explicit acts of lesbianism, which are not suitable for our culture,'' he opined, adding, `` Any two women living together will be looked upon with suspicion. Film is such a powerful medium, and the Sena cannot simply watch it being abused. We have made a general announcement regarding our viewson the film. The Shiv Sena has threatened it will have to use its own tactics if anyone defies the ban.''
