Sena leaders exempted in defamation case

AUG 22: Rane and the publisher of `Saamna’ Subhash Desai were exempted in a case questioning derogatory remarks against Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal in regard to release of pirated Indonesian ship.

Sanjay Raut, co-accused and Executive Editor of `Saamna’,however, was present before the Principal Sessions Judge A S Aguiar who decided to hear the matter on September 19 next.

Balkrishna Joshi, counsel for Rane and Desai, moved an application praying that his clients be exempted for the day as they were pre-occupied with work.
