The initiative taken by the veteran cricketers to re-establish cricketing relations between India and Pakistan received a jolt when Shiv Sena activists last night dug up the pitch at Agra stadium where the final match of the three-match series was to be held on December 24.

According to the police, the Shiv Sainiks stealthily entered the Eklavya stadium at about 10 p.m. last night and dug up a considerable part of the pitch. The Shiv Sainiks also poured mobil oil on it to prevent the pitch from being easily repaired. The Shiv Sainiks left behind their tell-tale flags and head-strips. K.K. Kapoor, secretary, Agra District Veteran Cricket Association, claimed that the efforts of the Indian Veteran Cricket Board would not go waste and the match would be held as scheduled.
