Lack of hygiene, poor roads and filthy condition of markets constitute some of the problems that the residents of Sector 25 are faced with.
Pooja, a resident of the sector, says, “No facilities have been provided in the sector. The condition of roads is pitiable. There are potholes everywhere, but, recarpetting is yet to be done.
“Sewerage blockage is the main problem that has been prevalent for a long time. Every time it rains, water stagnates on roads making it difficult to commute. No attention is paid to the cleanliness of the surroundings,” says Krishan Kumar, president of the Residents’ Welfare Society of the sector.
He adds that the sector is neglected by the authorities as they offer more excuses than solutions for the problems faced by residents.
Another resident, Neelam, complains of frequent powercuts. “There is no maintenance in this sector. Streetlights are not working properly which cause accidents at night,” adds Neelam.
The market is also a cause of concern for most residents. Surinder Garg, a shopowner, rues that there are no parking facilities. While many complaints have been submitted to the authorities, no action has been taken yet.
A government employee residing in the sector rues that there are numerous pits on the roads which cause inconvenience to commuters. Lack of parks for children in the area is another issue the residents have raised time and again.
