CHANDIGARH, April 23: The Traders Association Sector 17 has demanded the immediate withdrawal of notices seeking eviction of tenants sent by the Administration. A delegation of the traders handed over a memorandum to UT Adviser Jagdish Sagar in this regard.
Association president Subhash Kataria and general secretary Jagdish Pal Singh Kalra, said the withdrawal of notices was necessary as the landlords of commercial buildings were getting the buildings sealed allegedly in connivance with the UT officials in order to get their tenants evicted.
They said that the compounding fee should be recovered from the landlords soon and if they failed to do so, the same should be recovered from the tenants after legally attaching the rents under Land Revenue Act till the amount was recovered.
They have also called for transferring the ownership of such buildings to the Chandigarh Administration, till the amount was fully recovered.
The traders have also called for constituting a high-powered committee with representatives of traders, tenants and owners to go into the whole problem, in order to settle the issues amicably.
