BANGALORE, NOV 30: Indian National champion Pullela Gopi Chand won the Scottish International Badminton Championship at Edinburgh, scoring a comfortable 15-8 15-10 victory over compatriot Siddarth Jain in the final.
According to a Badminton Association of India (BAI) press release here today, the top seeded Gopi Chand outclassed the unseeded Jain in both games from the mid-way stage. Both players levelled at eight in both the games and from there, Gopi Chand stepped up the pace to win.
In the women’s singles final, top seed Japanese girl Ida Takako scored an easy win over a Chinese rival in two straight games.
Gopi Chand, along with Jain, Nikhil Kanetkar and BR Meenakshi, would return to India on December two to compete in the Asian Satellite beginning at Hyderabad from Dec 4.
