VADODARA, Dec 2: Student union leaders of the Faculty of Science went on the rampage on Wednesday, ultimately burning an effigy of Sayajigunj police inspector P Mukul - accused of beating up a couple of faculty students last week - and closing down the other faculties.Maintaining that they had been forced to resort to violence, the union leaders said neither the university authorities nor the police had paid heed to their fasts and slogan-shouting.Science faculty union leader Hitesh Patel, reportedly one of the two beaten up by Mukul last week, said, ``We have given enough time to the city administrative officers to take action. But they've failed to take notice of our protests and demonstrations. "Now we won't restrict our agitations to the campus, but plan to hold demonstrations in various parts of the city''.The agitating students announced that they would also burn an effigy of Police Commissioner Kuldip Sharma soon in protest against his inaction against Mukul.``We will also not allow classes to be conducted in the university. Only then will the university authorities sit up and take note of us'', the students said, adding that they planned to hold a chakka jam in front of the Sayjigunj police station on Thursday.
