VADODARA, APRIL 30: The Vadodara Municipal School Board is preparing a master plan to totally overhaul the education system and revolutionise standards in its schools from the forthcoming academic year.

A meeting of the School Board at the VMC on Thursday gave final touches to a master plan, which protects teachers from responsibilities other than teaching while underlining the need for regular supervision. It aims at holding school principals responsible for all the achievements and failures.

The meeting, chaired by Board vice-chairman Kasturbhai Patel, also found it necessary to give municipal teachers regular orientation to allow them to be in touch with educational trends.

According to the master plan prepared by Board’s convener Shankarlal Trivedi and assistant convenor Jivraj Chauhan, a proper period system would be introduced in class V, VI and VII, to be conducted by graduate and post-graduate junior teachers, while experienced teachers would be entrusted with classes I to IV.

A team of supervisors will make daily visits of all schools and balwadis and not only check whether the school had any problems but also monitor the teachers’ work. A report will be prepared from this and the principal will be given proper suggestions to implement them.

It was decided to hold the principals and chief teachers responsible for effective teaching work and maintenance of premises. work of those who had become principals by sheer seniority would be closely monitored, and if not found satisfactory, they would be reverted and replaced by others. The stress will be on efficiency and dedication, Kastur Patel said.

All the schools would have to ensure that students were encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities and exercise regularly. The meeting took note of the serious administrative difficulties faced by municipal schools and stressed on proper solution.
