NAHAN, July 23: Just one teacher is running the primary school at Mohtu in Dadahu area of this district where the future of 36 students does not seem to be very bright. The head master of the school was transferred to Nahan a few months ago, and no teacher has been sent to take his place.

Villagers say that the department has been requested many times over to send teachers to the school so that regular classes could be held but nobody has bothered to do the needful. They warned that they would withdraw their children from the school if the authorities failed to depute the required strength of teachers.

The villagers criticised the authorities of the Education Department for not utilising the World Bank aid properly for improving the standard of primary education in Sirmaur district including provision of the right number of teachers, school buildings and furniture.

They charged that no proper facility has been provided under this programme. The villagers urged the chief minister to intervene in the matter and direct the authorities concerned to take action for deputing teachers in the school immediately so that students in the primary classes could have regular classes.
