SC rejects plea to restrain Mallya’s team from playing IPL

The petition filed by a Faridabad-based resident alleged that under garb of 'The Royal Challengers Bangalore Team', the UB Group was seeking to promote its brands of liquor.

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the petition seeking to restrain a team owned by liquor baron Vijay Mallya from playing in the Indian Premier League under the banner of ‘The Royal Challengers’.

The petition filed by a Faridabad-based resident, Kishan Kumar Aggarwal, alleged that under the garb of ‘The Royal Challengers Bangalore Team’, the United Breweries Group was seeking to promote its brands of liquor.
