MUMBAI, May 20: Suhas Sawant scored a hat-trick in the GM Police 4-1 win over Sachivalya Gymkhana in the inaugural match of the Second Police Cup hockey tournament played at the Police Headquarter Ground, Naigaum.GM Police took lead in the fourth minute through a field goal by Bandu Jagtap. Prakash Wad got the equaliser for Gymkhana team in the 25th minute when he stunned Dilip Lad, the GM custodian.In the second-half, GM Police got better of their opponents and pumped in three goals. Suhas Sawant, GM Police defender, scored a hat-trick scoring in the 46th, 57th and 60th minute. His first goal came off a direct shot, second came through penalty corner and the third occurred off a penalty corner when his shot stunned everybody on the field.Skating championshipBal Bhavan (Chowpatty) and Dhwanit Rele's Champ Open Skating Club would be organising their annual event of Road Speed Championship at Nariman Point (near NCPA) on Sunday, May 24 at 5.30 a.m. for all skaters residing in Mumbai. Theraces will be conducted under various age groups of 5 1/2 to 7 years, 7-9 years, 9-12 years, 12-16 years and above 16 years (age deciding date 1-1-98).
