MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 12: Saurashtra extended their encounters of the thrilling kind when they pipped Gujarat by one run at the Brabourne Stadium today. They had earlier upstaged Vadodara by two runs in the West Zone under-14 overs-limited tournament opener.

Hosts Mumbai prolonged their domination in the event when they notched their second successive victory defeating Maharashtra by 108 runs at the Bombay Gymkhana. In the event, Mumbai head the round-robin standings with four points from two matches.

Chasing a modest 191 in 40 overs for victory, Gujarat faltered at the finish when Timil Patel was run out on the last delivery of the 40th over.

Skipper Vineet Indulkar’s scintillating 84 (80b, 99m, 13×4) and his deputy left-arm spinner Sangram Bagul three wickets for 35 runs were the high points in Mumbai’s emphtic victory over Maharashtra.

Brief Scores: Mumbai 226-8 in 40 overs (Soham Dalvi 31, Paul Valthaty 46, Vineet Indulkar 84; Kiran Adhav 2-49, Sagar Dhungule 4-29) bt Maharashtra 118-8 in 40 overs(Sagar Dhungule 29; Harshad Rawle 2-16, Sangram Bagul 3-35) by 108 runs.

Saurashtra 191-8 in 40 overs (Sagar Jogiyani 91; Balkrishna Karnik 3-50) bt Gujarat 190 all out in 40 overs (Amit Rupani 27, Kiran Patel 49, Balkrishna Karnik 25; Haresh Mavla 4-49, Sandil Natkan 2-21) by one run.
