Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil visited the Satya Sai Baba ashram in Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh and got his rendition of the Bhagawad Gita released by the spiritual leader on Friday.

The book — Shrimad Bhagawad Geeta: Rendered by Shivraj V Patil — was released by Satya Sai Baba on July 18 at his ashram. Patil, sources said, immediately rushed back to Delhi once the book release function ended.

Patil is learnt to have already donated one hundred copies of the book to the ashram, which, according to sources, will not be “sold” at bookstores.

“Since no price tag has been put on the book, it is unlikely that it would be sold over the counter. Instead, it could be made available to educational institutes and libraries,” said sources in the Home Ministry.

A known Satya Sai Baba devout, Patil is known to visit Puttaparthi regularly. In fact, Patil, in the past, has been quoted as saying that the Baba had helped him preside over the Lok Sabha for a five-year term during his stint as the Speaker and that thoughts of him helped him restore order in the House whenever things were unruly.
