NEW DELHI, May 26: A 25-year-old laboratory assistant at Sanjay Gandhi hospital was allegedly beaten to death by nine persons in Mangolpuri, North-West Delhi, this afternoon. Six of the assailants have been arrested in this connection.
The police say that one of the assailants, Jagdish, bore a long-standing grudge against the victim, and had hired others to take revenge.
The incident occurred around 2.30 pm. The laboratory assistant, Narender Kumar was inside the hospital when his would-be assailants came to meet him. They reportedly asked Kumar to accompany them to visit a patient.
Kumar did not suspect anything untoward as he was acquainted with Jagdish. The laboratory assistant, however, was taken to a deserted area and beaten up. A couple of passers-by later told the local police that had seen some persons punching and kicking a youth on the road-side.
When the police reached the spot, they found a profusely bleeding Kumar in an unconscious state. Kumar was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospitalwhere he was declared dead.
Subsequent investigations led the police to Jagdish and five accomplices later in the evening. All the assailants reportedly work as labourers. Three others are still absconding. Jagdish – who had visited Sanjay Gandhi hospital sometime ago to seek medical assistance – reportedly told the police that he was dissatisfied with the way he had been treated by Kumar at that time.
He had been wanting to take revenge ever since, and today decided to teach Kumar a lesson with the help of some labourers.
