Former city police commissioner and candidate from the Bangalore North Parliamentary constituency H.T Sangliana on Thursday claimed his letter to F.T.R. Colaso was deliberately leaked to harm the BJP’s prospects in the forthcoming elections.

‘‘Distribution of copies of my personal letter to Mr Colaso to the media by making hundreds of copies is highly unethical,’’ he said in response to media reports on his letter.

Sangliana said he has no grudge against the RSS, as he has no evidence to suggest its alleged commissioning of crimes against Christians. ‘‘I feel sorry if the feelings of the RSS have been hurt by my reference in my letter, which was only repetitive of Mr Colaso’s reference,’’ he said.

‘‘RSS is an organisation, which promotes Hindutva, which means nationalism or Indianness for which I am fully with them,’’ he said.

With reference to Jesus’s name mentioned in his letter, the former policeman said, he had just referred to one of his well-wishers letter, which stated that she would work for the BJP so that everyone would become like Jesus.

‘‘I have no personal animosity against any group of people or faith and I will see to it that the work of devil in trying to kick up a non-issue in this regard is completely defeated,’’ he added.
