The Sangh Parivar has reportedly given CM Raman Singh a month to clean up the Jogi mess — by getting rid of controversial officers and ordering inquiries against those who had then faced serious charges of corruption.

Raman is being very careful in selecting his core team. He has chosen Vivek Dand, a 1981-batch IAS officer as his secretary. Dand’s name was reportedly mooted by the Sangh Parivar too. Two other key officers are deputy secretary Anil Tuteja and Vikram Sisodiya as OSD to CM.

But taking his choice was perhaps not easy for Raman who several ills had seeped into the bureaucracy.

Yesterday, he sent SEB chairman B.S. Banafar packing, handing him a month’s salary. District Collector (Jangir-Champa) M.R. Sarthi, who faces molestation charges, has been shifted. Nine district collectors and eight SPs, including Raipur SSP Mukesh Gupta, have been replaced.

Raman said today: ‘‘Tomorrow at the first Cabinet meeting, I will ask ministers to recommend specific cases which should be probed.’’
