PUNE, May 30: Vikrant Sane shook his head in disbelief, picked up his tennis kit and walked back towards the spectators gallery with his face down. He was mum till the prize distribution function and, not surprisingly, disappeared from sight soon after. The look on his face mirrored his unhappiness for all to see.
The third-seeded Vikrant threw in the towel soon after being 0-2 down in the first set. From there onwards, he put up no fight making it a cakewalk 6-1, 6-1 victory for top seed Rohan Gajjar within an hour.
If the boy’s final was a let down, then the girls under-16 final in the Adidas Junior Circuit here yesterday drew immediate attention when top seed Megha Vakharia was made to toil hard before she managed to get past the ever lively second seed Isha Lakhani of Mumbai 6-3, 6-4. Pune, and particularly PYC Gymkhana, seems to be a happy hunting ground for Mumbai’s Megha, as this was her third successive title win here.
Both Rohan and Megha earned Rs 1500 and 10 AITA points each with theirvictories today.
