NEW DELHI, November 19: Top seed Sahil Vasudeva was stretched to three sets by Sanchit Sharma in the boys under-12 quarter-finals of Anurag Sengupta Memorial mini-tennis championship. It took Sahil more than two hours to overcome Sanchit 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Raghan Nanda, on the other hand, had a rather easy win over his rival Shashank Jha as Nanda allowed Jha to hold only one serve in each set and rushed to a quick 6-1, 6-1 win for a semi-final place.Bhuvan Bhatia survived a tie-breaker against M. Nishanak to record a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) win and make it to the last four stage. Also entering the semis was Siddhartha Gulati who bundled out Aniket Gupta for the berth.The girls under-12 matches too turned out to be one-sided affairs as Aastha Uppal defeated Neha Rana 6-1, 6-0, Shilpa Dalmiya beat Anuradha 6-1, 6-2 and Anukriti Prasad got past Nitya Uppal 6-0, 6-3.Earlier, Shilpa Dalmiya, who is in line for a triple crown, bundled out Veda Morolia 6-2, 6-0 in the under-10 category. Against Bhavani, Nitya Uppal managed to hold only one serve as she was sent packing 6-0, 6-1. Neha Rana too did not allow her opponent Dhanshree to take advantage as she quickly defeated to score a 6-0, 6-1 win. Anukriti Prasad, who is in line for a double, overcame Sanjana Kapoor 6-2, 6-3.In the mixed doubles section, Siddharth joined hands with Bhavani to beat Sanjana and Chandril 8-0 while Sourav and Nitya Uppal together thrashed I.B. Sirishya and Chirag Kapil 8-1. Raghav Nanda and Tara Iyer beat Karan and Veda Morolia 8-1 while the pair of Honey Rana and Shilpa defeated Neha Rana and Sumit 8-1.
