Consumer electronics major Samsung Electronics India Ltd on Tuesday said that it was eyeing 65 per cent growth in sales this year at Rs 2,800 crore following strengthened product portfolio, World Cup Cricket euphoria and an enhanced dealer channel.

“The company ended 2002 with Rs 1,700 crore turnover, which was 12 per cent higher than the target Samsung had set for itself,” said the company’s director (sales) R.V. Zutshi. And added that the company plans to sell 1.4 million colour televisions this year, of which 0.2 million will be exported, thus grabbing 17 per cent share of this market.

Zutshi said the company will effectively leverage ‘Team Samsung’ campaign, adding that it has become the associate sponsor on Sony Television Channel in the home appliances category for Cricket World Cup 2003. “We got as per the ICC guidelines and we still have to wait for the final decision to see if we can show the visual of players or not,” Zutshi said.
