Blood samples of prime accused in the New Year eve gangrape, Sajal Jain, have been found ‘‘matching’’ with those taken from the victim’s body. Police also arrested the father of one of the accused who is already in custody.

A senior Forensic Science Laboratory official said here today that police were given reports of Jain whose blood group matched with those of the rape victim. The Gujarat police and the FSL are now waiting for the DNA results of all four accused.

The Gujarat police is heavily dependent on the scientific findings of the 51-odd evidences gathered from the Ashok Palace hotel — where Bijal Joshi was allegedly raped and also from Jain’s car. The Gujarat police are still looking for three more persons who were allegedly involved in the rape.

Police today arrested Harishanker Jaiswal, father of Sugam Jaiswal, who is already in custody. Officials said Harishanker had allegedly destroyed crucial evidence including undergarments and belongings of the gangrape victim from his car that was driven by his son Sugam.

Jaiswal was declared absconding by the police last week just before his wife and daughter were arrested for their alleged involvement in destroying crucial evidence to shield Sugam..

The police has so far arrested 10 people in this case and are still on the hunt for two Ajmer-based persons who were alledgedly part of the gangrape. Interrogation of Jaiswal is expected to yield more clues.
