MUMBAI, November 6: In an important development, a high-power committee appointed by the Maharashtra government today gave a nod to Sahara India Housing Limited company’s resort project near Lonavala.

The committee, headed by principal revenue secretary, was appointed on May 13, 1997 to go into the `controversial’ project so as to determine whether the company had flouted any environmental rules or any other regulations.

As per the existing rules, the structures erected by the company can be regularised under the resort development control regulations, says the report of the committee.

However, `Princess Villa’ and its outhouse near Koyrigad could not be regularised, the report outlined and opined that the permission of concerned department’s should be sought.`
