Manchester United striker Louis Saha has set his sights on Euro 2004 after scoring a goal on his international debut in France’s 2-0 defeat of Belgium. Saha, who also scored in his first game for United after moving from Fulham in January, struck after 76 minutes to help the European champions extend their winning run to 14 matches.

Santini fielded Saha alongside Olympique Lyon forward Peguy Luyindula in Brussels and he labelled the experiment a success. ‘‘These were satisfying debuts for both of them,’’ The United player played most of the first half supporting Luyindula and scored after the interval when playmaker Zinedine Zidane set him up in the box. ‘‘It’s a great honour to receive a ball from Zidane,’’ said Saha. ‘‘It is a great moment for me and for my family. Now, I am thinking a bit more about Euro 2004.” Zidane said of Saha: ‘‘He’s certainly a bit talented.’’
