NEW DELHI, June 8: Safdarjung Hospital doctors have agreed to “resume routine duties apart from emergency duties, in view of the provision of security”. This decision was taken after a meeting between representatives of the Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) and hospital authorities today.

According to RDA general secretary Dr B.K. Mohanty, “Resumption of emergency duties will be reviewed tomorrow based on initiation of action on the other demands including administrative action against anti-social elements, provision of sanctioned police post, provision of CISF and continuation of present security.”

The doctors pointed out that the improved security environment will be in the broader interest of all the hospital employees including the medical superintendent, faculty members, resident doctors, nurses, technicians and group C and D employees.

“The resident doctors wish to re-emphasise their sole commitment to patient care and their resolve to maintain a cordial and harmonious atmosphere in the hospital,” added Mohanty.
