Sadhus ignore plea on animals

The request by police to various sadhu sects to refrain from parading animals like elephants, camels and horses during the Kumbh Mela for security reasons has received a cold response.

The sadhus have told police that since the animals formed an integral part of processions led by mahants of various sects, the decision could only be taken by their respective chiefs.
