Mumbai, May 3: Rumania (Fort) defeated Sacred heart 3-0 to lift the Joseph Koli Floodlit Rink football tournament organised by St Francis Sports Club (Sewri) at the Ganesh Maidan, Sewri. Aldrin Lobo, Caitano Fernandes and Baptist Lobo were the scorers.

Prizes: Highest scorer: Rashid Sheikh (Hot Jalebi); Youngest player: Munir Sheikh (Milan); Best forward: Ajay Kamble (Young Stars); Player of the tournament: Alex D’Souza.

Coaching camp: Thirty four promising players from Maharashtra and Gujarat took part in a table tennis coaching camp at the Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF), Chembur, under former national ace Kamlesh Mehta.

The Mumbai Suburban District TT camp, held from April 18 to May 3, was for those between the ages of 12-17. Assisting Mehta in the coaching were his wife, former national champion Monalisa Barua-Mehta, Amitab Chaudhary and JK Dasgupta.

John-Rose, Andrew’s tops: JOHN-ROSE (India) and St Andrew’s (Bandra) emerged supreme in men’s and women’s sections,respectively, of the ninth Remedian rink hockey tournament at Our Lady of Remedy Church ground, Kandivli (W).Results of finals:

Men’s: John-Rose (India) 5 (Amjad Khan 4, Weldon) bt Republicans B 4 (Vijay 2, Stanley, Manoj Lokhande).

Women’s: St Andrew’s (Bandra) 5 (Debroha 4, Diana) bt Carmel of St Joseph 2 (Evelyn, Joann).

U-16: Our Lady of Remedy (Poinsur) bt Our Lady of Lourdes (Orlem) via the tie-breaker (score not received).
