CHANDIGARH, MARCH 31: Charging the RSS-run schools in the country with "imbibing communalism and casteism thinking" in the minds of youth at the basic level, the Congress Working Committee member and former Union minister Mohsina Kidwai on Tuesday called upon the youth to combat such a propaganda.

Kidwai said as many as 13,000 schools run by the RSS were "misleading" the youth and were leading the nation to total disaster, even as they were destroying the basic fabric of the country.

The BJP-led government at the Centre, she alleged, was making concerted efforts to groom such schools by building structures, allocating land and recruiting cadre-staff, besides also providing them with grant-in-aid.

Kidwai, who was in the city in connection with the three-day Indian Youth Congress North Zone regional orientation camp, said, any attempts to communalise education by RSS will be thwarted by the Congress.

Addressing the youth at the camp, she called upon them to counter such forces and save the nation from divisive communal activities. She exhorted the Youth Congress workers to help bring back in the general fold those "misguided" by the RSS. She also called upon youth in general rise above party lines to combat communalism.

She cautioned that the BJP was aligning with other like-minded parties like the Akali Dal, which she also termed as "communal". She added that the Congress was the only secular party which stood for all religions and castes.

Questioning the BJP on its "achievements" during its one-year rule, she held Union Home Minister L K Advani responsible for the increase in crime in the national capital. "Advani should take moral responsibility for the failure of law and order in Delhi, since it is directly under the Home ministry," she said.

Later in the day, All India Congress Committee secretary and former minister, Selja sought the early constitution of YC in Haryana, as the party was suffering due to non-constitution of such a body.

Without disclosing to which faction in Haryana she owed her allegiance, she said holding of parallel rallies by former CM Bhajan Lal and PCC president Bhupinder Singh Hooda did not amount to indiscipline. "It was for the high-command to see about any action".

She, however, justified the holding of parallel rallies in Haryana on Sunday last. She parried all questions pertaining to factionalism within the Haryana Congress. She called upon partymen to not indulge in mudslinging on each other.

Meanwhile, Indian Youth Congress president Manish Tewari said that a youth body has not been constituted in Haryana as the consensus over one name was not reached.

Earlier, former MP Pawan Kumar Bansal explained to the youth delegates about protection of equal rights of individuals, provide equal opportunity to all irrespective of caste, creed and religion and justice for all, as also the freedom of speech and expression.
