You have to only to visit The Royal Palms, located in the vicinity of Peshwe Park, and find out for yourself the sumptuous and lip-smacking delicacies on the menu, offered in the Indian, Continental and Chinese.The proof that a good, vegetarian menu can go well even if you have a permit room is evident at The Royal Palms which is always packed, particularly during the evening hours.Dev Chatterjee, former chef at The Pride Hotel has turned entrepreneur along with his colleague, Ravi Chandran, who was the food and beverages manager and started this restaurant. A wide variety of snacks comprising Indian and Chinese flavours, includes `Chutney-stuffed aloo tikki' for Rs 40, `Garlic mushrooms' for Rs.45, `Vegetable gold fingers' at Rs.40, and `Hara bhara kabab' for Rs.40. While the dishes might sound familiar, they have a specially refined taste here.Besides the usual fare in the main course, the `Special Sizzlers' section, has become popular with the customers.The `Mushroom Sizzler' for Rs.75, has a fresh mushroom cutlet topped with a special sauce and served with vegetables and finger chips. The `Vegetable and Cottage Cheese Steak,' also for Rs.75, is a unique combination of cottage cheese and fried vegetables, served with finger chips and sauce. The most exciting of the lot seems to be `The Palms Special Sizzler' for Rs.85 - which is a mini meal in itself, comprising a bed of rice, with vegetables, finger chips, cottage cheese, babycorn and pineapple.All the baked dishes in the continental section are priced at a reasonable Rs.60 and include the Vegetable Au-gratin, Baked Corn and Spinach, Baked Mushrooms and Cheese, Baked Babycorn with Spinach, amongst others.Priced between Rs.45 and Rs.65 are the Indian dishes which have been given a distinct flavour with the magical touch of Chatterjee and that's what makes eating out a different experience here.Some more interesting dishes are the `Paneer Kofta Hariyali', `Subzi Makhanwala', `Paneer Chilman', `Jaipuri Sabzi' amongst others.Hospitality is at its best here and so is the ambience. There's live music during the weekends and a special business buffet lunch at Rs.65 that has a lavish vegetarian buffet spread.
