MUMBAI, June 14: Royal Caterers lifted the Air-India MDFA football trophy with a 6-5 penalty shootout win over Naval Dockyard in the final at the St Xavier’s Ground, Parel, today.

Tobias Thomas’ shot wide in the first round of sudden-death kicks to give Royal Caterers victory after the teams were locked 5-5 after five kicks apiece.

A barren regulation period followed by a goalless extra period brought on the tie-breaker.

Nazareth D’Souza, Dolfred Pereira, Hasmukh Baria, Symon Fernandes, Jeffrey Campos and Roy Fernandes scored for the winners.

Mario Caldeiro, Sebastian Caldeiro, Anthony George, Igantius Mascarenhas and Yeshwant Rao were on target for the losers.

Borivilians pipped Greater Bombay Police 9-8 to move into the Maitra Cup semifinals.
