off spinner Thandi Tshabalala, 21, is the surprise inclusion in the South African Test squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka starting later next month.

Tshabalala, a promising youngster from the Free State province, has been included as part of the 14-man team that will play two Tests and a limited overs triseries also featuring India. The one-day team would be announced later.

Tshabalala, who has taken 39 first-class wickets in 17 matches for the Free State Eagles, joins his colleague Nicky Boje as the second spinner in the touring party.

The squad also sees the return of top order batsman Herschelle Gibbs, who was dropped for the final two Tests against New Zealand last month.
