DECEMBER 2: Defending champions Rizvi underlined their superiority in no uncertain terms at the Hindu Gymkhana today. The raked up 579 on the opening day of their Mumbai University Inter Jr College fourth round cricket match against CWC.

Two 17-year-old FYJC students Alwyn Gaikwad (159: 203b, 18×4) and Rohit Bhalla (121: 78b, 20×4, 2×6) made the most of the run riot, while opener Amol Sisodiya (50: 51b, 7×4, 2×6), Imran Khan (65: 105b, 6×4, 1×6) and Majid Ansari (batting 91: 61b, 15×4, 1×6) came up with useful contributions.

Animesh cracks century

Animesh Khandekar’s fine century and good bowling performances by Ninad Muzumdar and G Reynold were instrumental in Don Bosco, Borivli’s thumping 160-run victory over St Joseph’s, Wadala in the third round of the MSSA-Colgate Inter-school Giles Shield (U-14) cricket tournament at Azad Maidan today.

Khandekar (100: 12×4) was involved in a 188-run opening stand with Sanket Shetty (78), helping his side to 258 for 7 in 45 overs. St Joseph’s were bowledout for 98, Muzumdar (4-10) and Greshwyn Reynold (3-20) sharing the spoils.

Vinit Bhosale’s all-round performance (85 & 4-10) was instrumental in IES New English, Bandra beating Swami Vivekanand, Kandivli by 233 runs.

India and China are set to resume direct flight services this month after being suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic and border tensions. The MEA stated that air services can resume by late October, subject to operational requirements. Talks in January and August between the two countries led to an agreement to resume direct flights.
