KHARAR, May 26: Four persons, including three of a family, were injured, one of them seriously, in an attack by robbers, who broke into their house between Tangori and Dairi villages on Kharar-Banur highway on Sunday night.

The assailants, about 10 to 12 in number, armed with iron rods and sticks, are said to have entered the house of Sukhchain Singh Bajwa, a retired Superintendent of Police, at around 12 am. They beat up the family members before decamping with gold and silver ornaments weighing over 300 gms, some cash, besides other valuable goods worth lakhs. It was only in the morning that a neighbour informed the police and rushed the injured to the PGI, Chandigarh.

The injured include Sukhchain Singh Bajwa, his wife Surinder Kaur, their daughter Prabhjot Kaur and servant Amar Singh.

Mohali SP told ENS that the police had registered a case and had started investigations into the matter. He hoped that the case would be solved and the culprits would be brought to book as the police had succeeded to get some vital clues in this connection.
