The Mayawati-UPA relationship is not all warmth as it was initially made out to be.The UPA Government had wearied of Mulayam Singh Yadav not allowing the NHAI to go on with highway widening work and introducing a new clause demanding a 10 m green strip across upgraded highways. The NHAI, quite naturally, was relieved at Mayawati8217;s victory and immediately approached her Government to resolve the issue. The Congress-BSP bonhomie didn8217;t quite pay off for the NHAI. The UP Government is still refusing to budge on the 10 meter clause and the NHAI is exasperatedly looking at its stalled projects in the state.
