RAJKOT, Oct 13: Mayor Govindbhai Solanki has asked all the concerned officers of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) to keep the city streets clean during the Diwali festival. In yesterday's RMC general board meeting, he asked them to take action to clear the garbage piled up in the city.All the 14 items listed on the agenda were accepted in the meeting which was attended by few corporators. They include plans to sterilize street dogs, to set-up settlements for `Maldharies' outside city limits and to build a community hall in Laxmiwadi area.The question of encroachments by shop owners during Diwali festival was also raised. Most of the shop owners lay tables and counters in front of their stores causing hindrance to the traffic. It was decided that any type of such extension should have prior permission of the municipal authorities.The board also discussed the water situation of the city. The mayor gave a detailed report about the water situation. It was decided that a delegation of corporatorswill meet the chief minister and request him to make provision for more drinking water to the city.
