MUMBAI, JULY 25: Rhino SC defeated Saki Village Boys 3-0 in the Harwood League football match organised by MDFA at the St Xavier Ground, Parel.

Amol Khaire put Rhino SC ahead in the 22th minute. Ajay Rohekar made it 2-0 in the 53th minute while Satyawan Sawant scored the third goal.

Tawade tops

Manoj Tawade topped Group B by outplaying overnight joint leader Vishal Shah in the sixth round in the Entrants Division chess tournament organised by the Bombay Chess Association at the Zandu Pharmaceuticals today.

Tawade, a Science graduate from CHM, has six points from as many rounds while Group A leader Yashodhan Gogte washeld to a draw by Prasanna Iyer of Bhagubhai Polytechnic.

Condolence meeting

Several former football internationals, national players and coaches were among those who paid homage to the late J Kosalraman at a condolence meeting at the Mahalakshmi Cooperative society, Andheri. The meeting was organised by Bipin Memorial Football Association.

Among those present were Olympian SS Narayan and Dereyck D’Souza who recalled Kosalram’s brilliant skills while Fifa referees SS Shetty and MG Suvarna highlighted his sportsmanship. Western Railway coach Ranjit Matkar acknowledged his debt to the departed colleague.
