MUMBAI, Aug 18: Rhino Sports Club beat Tata Electric 1-0 with a goal by Ajit Khokate to notch three points in a MDFA Harwood football league match at the St Xavier’s Ground, Parel, today.

Khokate scored in the first half, sending a dipping shot into goal, which had the otherwise efficient Tata Electric custodian Clarence Robert misjudging the flight of the ball in the 7th minute. Rhino did the early running but were restricted by Robert’s plucky show, the goal not-with-standing.

The second half saw Tata Electric put in a concerted effort to equalise but were impeded by a dour defence.

Rhino, themselves, had a few essays on goal but their strikers were wayward in their attempts.

Firoz Ali Khan and Agnelo Fernandes were on target for Khalsa Gymkhana `A’ in a 2-0 win over Naigaum Police in Div-I-B.

A hat-trick by Suraj Bengre helped State Bank of India beat Rebels 4-1 in the WIFA First Division football league at the Cooperage, today. Bengre’s scored three with Hasmukh Bariaadding another while Rebels could only reply through Herold Rodricks.

Ryan Dabero’s goal proved all-important in Juhu Sparks’ 1-0 win over Central Excise while BARC’s scoring was shared by Praveen Prabhakaran, Kartar Singh and Dennis D’Souza in a 3-1 win over Blue Angels.
